Abstract

|
Polymyxin B and E are drugs of choice for the treatment of Pseudomonas infection, however colistin is an only antibiotic that has been used recently in Korea exclusively.
Authors have studied the colistin sensitivity with Pseudomonas strains isolated from chronic surgical wounds. The sensitivity patterns of the 1969 isolates were not different from that of 1967 substantially, however 2 extreme high resistant strains were isolated in the former group.
Tube dilution method were far sensitive than plate diffusion method in results. Resistance formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to colistin was penicillin type in vitro experiment and these resistant strains accompained no biological variations.
